_We have a growing membership of both juniors (5 to 15 years), adults (16 to 29 years) and Veterans (30+ years).

If you’re new to the sport, we have club Judo suits, in a range of sizes to suit all ages, so if you’re interested come along and give it a go. And your first session is FREE.

We are a non-political club, and therefore Judoka from any organisation are welcome to train with us, at our guest rate of £3.50 per session.

In 2008 we gained the Sport England Bronze Clubmark accreditation.

Then in 2009, we became the first Judo club in the BJA Western Area to achieve the Sport England Silver Clubmark status. This was presented by BJA Chairman Densign White 7th Dan (see phot at the top of the screen).

In 2011 we received a Sport England - Small Grant Award to continue our club development project. This grant has enabled us to purchase some more mats to create a 9m x 9m competition area (for low level/introductory events), train another UKCC Level 2 Coach, purchase some crash pads and video cameras, and train some more referees and competition officials.

In 2008 we received funding from the National Lottery 'Awards for All' programme and the Youth Opportunities Fund, towards our club development project.This enabled us to purchase the following new equipment: mat area, safety matresses, throwing dummies, a variety of other training resources and an electronic scoreboard. It also allowed us to fund the training of 2 UKCC/BJA Level 2 Coaches, 4 UKCC/BJA Level 1 Coaches, 1 BJA Area Referee, 4 BJA Timekeeper/Scorers, 5 BJA Young Officials, and a number of other Sports Coach UK & Running Sport courses for some of the club officials.

We have developed BJA School 2 Dojo links with the following LOCAL schools:

Ivybridge Community College - Yellow Link - 2008, Blue Link - 2009 (This was the first Blue School2Dojo link to be created in the Western Area, Black Link - 2011 (This was the first Black School2Dojo link to be created in the Western Area)
